The real risk isn’t starting, it’s staying.
Sometimes I feel I did not follow the traditional path expected of doctors. Not every physician is destined to work within the four walls of a hospital and proudly, I am one of them.
Over time, that decision led me to explore something bigger—how we can improve medical travel from Ethiopia and make healthcare abroad more accessible for patients who need it most.
It certainly was not easy. The journey came with real costs—sacrifices I will not detail here 😢
Over the years, some people who know me have said, “You just don’t want to work in a hospital.”
The truth is much simpler: I have always known what I wanted.
Have I reached where I ultimately want to be? Not yet.
But I am still grinding 💪 Still building. Still learning.
And honestly, I am proud of the progress so far.
Looking back, I sometimes wish I had started earlier. But more than anything, I am grateful that I started when I did. Taking the first step mattered far more than taking it perfectly.
Today, through my work in healthcare abroad for Ethiopian patients, I see firsthand how doctors can expand their impact beyond hospital walls. Supporting patients in accessing international treatment, guiding them through complex systems, and ensuring continuity of care is just as meaningful as clinical practice.
Doctors can become strong entrepreneurs and effective business leaders without compromising the medical code of conduct.

- Our experience gives us judgment.
- Our oath gives us boundaries.
If we carry these with integrity, the impact of a doctor does not have to be limited to hospital walls—it can extend globally through services like medical tourism in Ethiopia and patient support for treatment abroad.
I’m still on the journey, and I know I will get where I’m meant to be.
